Old Family Room Wall Is Gone

The wall on west side of old family room/toy room is gone.  You can see part of the door to the right that used to lead out onto the deck.  There are also rafters up on top of the screen room.

This is the side of the old family room that used to have the TV.  Now it is looking out into the new master bath - without the old wall there, of course.

Taking Shape

Old siding gone from back of house - see the plywood where the old back door used to be.

Framed NW corner of new sunroom.

Three windows looking out from bedroom, and a door to get outside.

On the left is framing for shower with a little window high up.  To the right will be the MBR tub.  Nana will pick up those little grandkids coming in from outside, and plop them into the tub to clean them off!

The wood arrives and the framing starts

First, the wood arrived on a large truck and was placed up next to the addition.

Then the framing started. Here is a picture of the lumber company representative, the head framer and builder trying to figure out what what all that wood is for.

The crew starts to frame the floor to the bathroom.

Soon it will start to look like a house.

The plumbing for the basment bathroom and floors

First, Cathy's favorite part - the stone thrower came and put pea gravel into the foundation hole.

Then the plumber came in and put in the plumbing for the basement bathroom and the rest of the addition.

And then the basement floor was poured

Then came the footers and the foundation

First, the footers were poured.  Since part of the addition will have a basement, there are lower footers.

And then there are upper footers where the crawl space will be.

Then the foundation walls were place on the footers.

And then the foundation and basement walls were poured

And then the basement walls were finished.

The Big Dig

Mike took off the deck so that the foundation could be dug

Then the big equipment came in to dig the hole

It was amazing to me to see how well the equipment could be maneuvered.  Here are two pictures of it going back on the flatbed truck.

Then came the small machines to dig the footers.

The hole is now ready.  Right where the bobcat is pointing, there was a hole under the existing foundation where a wood chuck made a home in the winter.  Sorry but I did not get a picture of that.
